Grandview Medical Center was nominated a Center of Excellence for atrial fibrillation. He has performed thousands of ablations using this new technique. Dr Osorio is one of the leading experts in performing afib and other ablations using the mapping system and intracardiac ultrasound, thus eliminating the need to use Xray for most procedures. Prolonged exposure can be damaging to the patient, the physician and the staff. In most cases, physicians use over 40 min of fluoroscopy during afib ablations. Afib Center of Excellence Minimal and No Fluoroscopy Ablationsĭuring afib ablations, fluoroscopy (Xray) is typically used to see the catheters. ![]() Our center is part of many clinical trials and also performs quality outcomes research. One of Dr Osorio’s main interests and also the mission of our Afib Center is to advance the knowledge and improve the care of patients with Afib. Quality Outcomes Research and Clinical Trials He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. Osorio is a native of Brazil where he earned his medical degree. He completed training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Cardiovascular Diseases and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. Osorio served as an Assistant Professor at UAB for 3 years and was the Director of Electrophysiology and the Catheterization Laboratory at the Birmingham VA Medical Center.ĭr. He specializes in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders, such as atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. Dr Osorio’s main interest and expertise is the use of mapping technologies to minimize or completely eliminate fluoroscopy (Xray) during afib ablations.ĭr.
